Questions from Real Brides

Questions about serving alcohol:
Let me ask you, do more people do open or cash bar at a wedding??? I’m in a dilemma with that.
According to the rules of etiquette, it is never appropriate to have a cash bar at the wedding. It is like inviting people over to dinner, then expecting them to pay for it. But open bars can get expensive. One solution is to serve only wine & beer, or a champagne punch. Or have 2 bowls of punch, one alcoholic & the other non-alcoholic. Put a bottle of champagne next to the alcohol one to tell people the difference
Another is to only have champagne for toasting.
You can always only serve one signature drink, and give it a cute name, such as "wedding cake" (amaretto & gin, with a splash of cream, orange juice & pineapple juice). Maybe serve only Baileys at a fall or winter wedding. See the next post for The Wedding Cake recipe, it's a really great drink.
If you have your reception at a hotel & if someone wants a drink, I'm sure they will have a bar somewhere they can get their own.
